Belief in the Scriptures and the Qur’an in Islam

In Islam, belief in the Scriptures is one of the articles of faith, and it refers to believing in the holy books sent by Allah as guides for humanity. These books were revealed to the prophets to convey Allah’s message and provide guidance to lead mankind to the right path. According to Islam, the Torah, Psalms, Gospel, and the Qur’an are among these books. However, the Qur’an is the final divine book, confirming and completing the messages contained in the previous scriptures (Al-Baqarah, 2/2; Al-Ma’idah, 5/48).

The Qur’an is the word of Allah, revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the angel Jibril (Gabriel) in the year 610. The Qur’an is both a guide for worship and a life book containing moral and legal rules. Bearing an eternal and unchanging message, the Qur’an is a beacon of guidance sent to all humanity, with the promise of its protection by Allah (Al-Hijr, 15/9). Therefore, since the day it was revealed, all copies of the Qur’an have remained the same. Belief in the Qur’an is possible by accepting its teachings and striving to live by them.
