In Islam: Allah and Belief in Allah
Allah (The Almighty) is the Lord of all worlds. All praise, glory, power, majesty, and superiority belong to Him alone. Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him. Our Lord is the owner of absolute power and infinite wisdom. He is the One who created death and life, who grants dominion and rank, who elevates whom He wills, and lowers whom He wills. He is the Creator, and He continues to create. He is the One who gives life, provides sustenance, nourishes, and protects. He alone governs and manages every aspect and moment of life.
Belief in Allah is the first condition of honoring Islam. To believe in Allah’s existence, unity, and that He has no partner, equal, or similarity—i.e., to accept Tawhid (the Oneness of God)—is the foundation of the essentials of faith. The greatest right that our Lord, who created us from nothing and sustains us with countless blessings, has upon us is that we believe in Him.
Belief in Allah requires obedience to the Prophet He has appointed and the Book He has sent, surrendering to the boundaries and judgments He has set. A believer does not regard faith in Allah as just words. Rather, belief in Allah obliges a person to recognize and know their Lord through the verses of the Qur’an and the sayings of the Prophet (PBUH), and to live their life based on this belief. Belief in Allah gives meaning to the believer’s life, guides their thoughts and decisions, and influences their relationships with all living and non-living beings. Therefore, the faith that flows from the believer’s lips and takes root in their heart is, in fact, the guarantee of goodness on earth.
A person who believes in Allah seeks His pleasure in every action. They protect the rights of their family, relatives, neighbors, and workers. In every responsibility they take, they carry out their duties with the consciousness of trust.
A person who believes in Allah knows that even the smallest good or evil will have its consequences. They do not exchange their Hereafter for this worldly life and live a life that can be accountable.
